Personality: Neji has often been characterized as “having a stick up his ass.” His status as a noble-clan-member can be seen in his formal method of speech, as if he’s trying to convince others that he is, indeed, a member of the head family. Extremely competitive, Neji has no qualms about stepping on others to achieve his goals... with the exception of his friends and villagers. He is fiercely loyal to his village and shares a tight bond with his fellow ninja, refusing to let any of them come to harm if there is anything he can do about it.
Neji has the tendency to look down upon those he sees as below him in skill and comes off as extremely arrogant... again, a defense mechanism against his own fear of being the lowest.
Background: Within the Hyuuga clan, there exist two factions – the head family and the branch family. Neji’s father, born the younger twin, was sentenced to be a member of the branch family. As a branch family member, one is branded with a cursed seal, forced to serve the head family. This spell can be triggered without a wand, for any reason. Neji has always seen the fact that birth-order alone determine how far he could rise in status as proof that there is no free will – everything is destined from birth, and there is no way to fight it.
Praised as a magical genius by everyone around him, Neji can only see the limitations forced on him by the head family. No matter what his skill, because of his birth, he could never shine as brightly as any in the head family. Through fighting (and losing to) a “dropout ninja” – Naruto – Neji has recently begun to restructure his beliefs and have hope that maybe everything isn’t defined so simply.
Neji’s task while at Hogwarts is to record the level of instruction for the head family, a task he resents but has no choice but to fulfill. In the darkest nights, however, he finds himself despairing at the lack of attention he receives from his clan, and begins to wonder whether anything is worth the effort he puts in.
Blood: Full -- The Hyuuga's are one of the oldest, most prestigious wizarding families in the entirety of East Asia. Neji has been sent to Hogwarts to compare the quality of education for the future of Hyuuga head-family members.
